Why is there sand in the middle of the Plaça Major?
The central area of the Plaça Major has never been paved or asphalted. There may be several reasons for this, since the square has been used for a wide variety of activities over the course of history: correbous (bull runs), shows, races, concerts... But the most likely reason is that the market has been held here since the Middle Ages. Whatever the case, the sand surface of the square is maintained today out of tradition and is one of its most characteristic features.
What are the must-see attractions in Vic?

The market has been held in the square on Tuesdays and Saturdays since the Middle Ages. The markets in Vic have also been a meeting and exchange point for the inhabitants of Osona and the neighbouring counties. Nowadays, the Saturday market is the bigger of the two and also occupies Rambla del Passeig and Rambla del Carme.
When is the Palm Market held?

Public transport is a very convenient way to travel to Vic because the bus and train stations are located right next to each other in the city centre. You need line 3 of the rodalies (commuter rail) service if coming by train or the e12 bus of the exprés.cat bus network run by the Sagalés company.
When are the local public holidays in Vic?

Free parking is available in the large public car parks located just a 15-minute walk away from the city centre. The blue zone in Vic operates from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00. It is free of charge on Sundays and public holidays.
